so about the films in this collection. mainly theyre movies that aren't super popular and that i found memorable. some of them i love, some i don't even like that much, but they were all very interesting for different reasons that i elaborate on in their pages.
some of the movies are hard to find on streaming services, but you know you can always just pirate them. art should be accessible for everyone.
now have fun discovering new movies!!!
if you have recommendations your self, send them to me immediately. (via email, discord, or comment on my neocities page)

sometimes i wonder what abstract concepts would look like literally. like what would "imperfect" or "anger" or "interesting" look like as an object in our physical world. what combination of visuals, sound, smell, etc would make us unambiguously think "now thats imperfect", not because it's imperfect but because it IS imperfect.
well i think august in the water is such an object, though for a concept or rather feeling that we don't have a name for yet.
in the world of august in the water something is happening in the universe. something strange with the planets, something no one really understands, something entirely out of range both conceptually and physically. weird meteorites fall to earth, people fall sick to a disease, they collapse on the streets. whatever is happening, it's also having an effect on earth. yet our protagonists are still going to school (or rather skipping school), the adults go to work and festivals are held as scheduled.
the anomalies are nothing more than a short conversation topic when lying on the balcony, looking up in the sky and reminiscing about the universe we exist in. and i mean what else is there to do? does it have a cause? will it end? get worse? is it even real? was it always there?
what are the people in august in the water supposed to do when they see a person collapsing on the street? evidently they got the new disease. a fact of life, no different then birth, death or the ocean being blue. why do people die? why is it blue and not green? will it end? get worse? is it even real? was ist always there?
the feeling i was talking about, its one of helplessness. but without the negative connotation. like a water molecule floating in an olympic swimming pool. there isn't much the water molecule can do about the forces pushing on it, the rules determining his behavior. its helpless. but does it care? would it care? after all it IS a fucking olympic swimming pool. and how cool is that.
i really love august in the water. it's immersive in a way that almost feels psychedelic, and to me captures what it feels like to exist better than anything else in our physical world. i also love how the protagonist are dressed. no frame lacks style in this movie.
don't plan to watch this movie. its a film best watched spontaneously. as a matter of fact here it is on youtube: go watch it
time crimes is a great time traven movie
